We should also note that they have a terrace on the to floor with a beautiful view if Positano and the sea. The Pensione is an old home that has been refurbished as a small, family owned Pensione. We would recommend the upper floor rooms with full sea view, but none were available during our stay. The owner (Carlo) and his staff are charming, friendly and helpful! We stayed in the main level, and had a town / partial sea view. in fact we enjoyed the exercise if enjoying Positano. Also, we enjoy walking a lot during our vacations, and we’re not bothered at all by all the stairs. We enjoyed the quieter location and the lower cost. Maria Luisa is located 450 stairs above the Furnillo Beach, and about 30 stairs below the main road through town. However, Positano is a very touristy town, and there are shops, restaurants and tourists everywhere.
The west side of town above Furnillo is less crowded and has less shops and restaurants. The main hub of touristic shops and restaurants are located just above the Grande beach (east side of town). There are two beaches in Positano: the main Grande beach, and the smaller, less-crowded Furnillo beach. We spent five nights at Pensione Maria Luisa in June 2018, and had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the location on the west side of town, which is the lower-cost, less-crowded side of Positano. My wife and I are already planning to come back to Positano next year and my first reservation will be at Mamma Luisa’s. I would consider this a can’t miss while in Italy, let alone, in the Amalfi Coast area. Our time there flew by and we got to meet some very interesting people while eating just an amazing dinner. Homemade wine and wonderful food flowed from the moment we arrived. along with 7 others, became part of the extended family.
We dined inside due to weather and my wife and I. Their house is a beautiful setting high in the mountains with fresh ingredients being grown all around their property. You are truly treated like family once you arrive. I found this to be the easiest and most direct way to reserve a place at Mamma Luisa’s. I would suggest emailing Mariangela through the website.
WOW!! We have been in Italy for almost two weeks and this was the freshest, well prepared meal, we have had and we have been to some beautiful. My wife and I were fortunate enough to get into Mamma Luisa’s during our stay in Positano.
